EDR Group, under contract to Cambridge Systematics, Inc., is examining and documenting the mobility and connectivity aspects of NHS passenger connectors, to show how they facilitate connecting every American to the global economy, and to suggest possible recommendations on how they can be improved. The study will produce a comprehensive look at NHS passenger intermodal connectors. The project includes a comprehensive literature review, development of interview-based case studies and the evaluation of the performance and condition of NHS passenger intermodal connectors. EDR Group will identify impediments to investments and improvements to NHS passenger intermodal connectors and provide recommendations for possible solutions to these impediments.
Of special interest are ways in which NHS passenger intermodal connectors serve to connect the transportation disadvantaged, economically disadvantaged or underserved populations to employment opportunities. Recommendations will include ways in which NHS intermodal passenger connectors are currently being used to connect employment location with the low-income/high-unemployment residential areas, compared to low unemployment areas, can be improved to offer more equitable opportunities.
