Vermont Statewide Freight Plan
EDR Group (now EBP), under contract to Cambridge Systematics, developed long-range forecasts of commodity flows for Northern New England and assessed the effects of these flows on economic growth as part of a statewide freight plan. The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTRANS) needed to carefully assess the overall freight flow, trends, and opportunities in light of recent changes in the US and global economy.
EDR Group provided insight into these trends, developed ways to use non-traditional methods of forecasting and integrated traditional commodity flow history and forecasts from the FAF and TRANSEARCH into new, more flexible, and updatable sources of economic, demographic and industrial activity forecasts. The results of our forecast and trend analysis support the broader statewide planning needed for the Vermont Freight Plan.
