Early Career Openings (Summer, Part-Time, Full-Time)

EDR Group has openings for team members with expertise in transportation and economic analysis in our downtown Boston headquarters.

We are seeking:

  • Full-time summer research assistants,
  • Part-time research assistants (~15 hours per week), and
  • Full-time permanent entry-level analysts.

All applicants should have an interest in consulting work related to economic evaluation of transportation projects, programs, and policies. Applicants may also be interested in contributing to EDR Group’s work related to energy systems, non-transportation infrastructure, urban development, economic development programs, and strategic planning. A successful candidate will have training or experience in both transportation planning and economic analysis, including wider social and economic benefit assessment. We’re looking for candidates passionate about how infrastructure impacts people and the economy. Specific topics of interest might include:

  • Multimodal project prioritization, programming, and performance management,
  • Economic impact and program evaluation methods,
  • Freight transportation and trade,
  • Emerging technologies and new transportation business models.

Your work may include development of project impact and benefit/cost tools, including online applications for internal and client use. Responsibilities include advising agencies and other firms on tools for project planning, prioritization, and funding decision-making. Team members will contribute to large-scale research efforts and be responsible for presentation of research findings to clients and professional organizations. Candidates should have excellent English speaking and report writing skills, plus an ability to communicate effectively with clients and others in a research team and one of the following:

  • A graduate degree related to transportation or urban/regional planning, public policy, or economics,
  • Pursuit of a graduate degree in these fields, or
  • At least two (2) years of relevant work experience; and

  • Statistical analysis, econometric modelling, forecasting, or risk analysis,
  • Performance measurement and decision support tools and systems,
  • Experience with QGIS, ArcGIS, or web tools for spatial analysis and mapmaking,
  • Programming and data visualization in R or Python,
  • Application and database development in Visual Basic and SQL languages,
  • Defining requirements for economic systems and software tools,
  • Familiarity with social and economic determinants of travel,
  • Using regional economic impact tools (e.g. REMI, TREDIS, RIMS II, IMPLAN, etc.).
