Celebrating 50 Years of the Eisenhower Interstate Highway System

The Dwight D. Eisenhower National System of Interstate and Defense Highways, commonly called the Interstate Highway System (or simply, the Interstate System), 2006

The National Academy Press has issued a new issue of Transportation Research News focusing on the 50th anniversary of the Interstate Highway System. This issue features analysis by experts on the urban development impacts, economic development impacts, social impacts, and historical evolution of the national highway system that changed patterns of America's development.

The article on economic development implications, titled "Industries on the Interstates: What Is the Best Location?" was authored by Glen Weisbrod, President of Economic Development Research Group and Chair of the TRB Committee on Transportation and Economic Development.
